STUDENT SUPPORT

Introduction first-year students
Before the summer holidays, new first-year students come to school for a morning to meet their student mentors, and have a tour of the school. They also spend a day at SCS, where they meet all their new teachers and follow lessons. At the beginning of the school year, there are introduction days where students engage in team building activities and learn the skills needed to be a successful high school student.

Homeroom Teacher
The Homeroom Teacher pays a lot of attention to the atmosphere in a class and to the individual students. If necessary, the Homeroom Teacher contacts the parents in a timely manner. Students and parents can contact the Homeroom Teacher during working hours or by email to discuss questions or problems.

The Homeroom Teacher is in charge of the primary care of the students. The Homeroom Teachers work together under the supervision of the Department Leaders. Homeroom lessons are also given by the Homeroom Teacher. The lessons help to develop positive social behavior and a healthy lifestyle and they contribute to a good study attitude.

Student Mentors
The upper form students help guide and support new students, especially at the beginning of the year, and help them to feel welcome. They are also present at the transition sessions.

Career & Guidance Lessons
All classes receive one period of career and guidance lessons weekly. Forms 1 & 2 also receive one period of Social Emotional Learning. Individual counselling sessions are also available.

Care
The small care team meets regularly to discuss the care needs of each form. Internal care can be provided by our remedial teacher, ESL teacher or our student counsellor. External care can also be provided by EC2 or other external care providers.

Our Anti-Bullying Protocol promotes education, early intervention, and restorative practices that encourage empathy and inclusion.

The Anti-Bullying Coordinator leads prevention and response efforts, supports students, and ensures all reports are handled promptly and fairly. Together with staff, parents, and students, we strive to create a school community where everyone feels valued, supported, and safe to learn.
